FrequenC First Public Performance

On the 9th of September 2009, FrequenC organized the first performance ever during HELP's Psychology Club and Societies Day at Wisma HELP Level 5 DSA. The preparation began at 12pm, where other students are flocking the DSA either to participate in the event, or set up for the day. FrequenC was no different.

The singers of the day: Mei Sim, Vinties, Lee Ying and Douglas AND the musicians of the day: Vinties, Hui Yi and Jeng Mun, are all testing the instruments, microphones and setting up the stage. Some were having fun, some where fine-tuning their instruments, while others are plain nervous. It is, after all, FrequenC's first public performance!

When it was 12.30pm, we pushed open the wooden door and revealed ourselves to the crowd. I began talking, trying to capture the students' attention. Douglas, Lee Ying, Hui Yi (Keyboard) and Jeng Mun (Guitar), the first group performing the first half of the performance, are standing behind me.

I began talking, explaining information about FrequenC and then passed the floor to the performers. Applauses came and the performance officially began. The show started off with Lee Ying's powerful voice astonishing the crowd with the song 原来你什么都不想要 (Actually, You Wanted Nothing) by A-Mei. It was then followed by Douglas' 红豆 (Red Beans) by Faye Wong/Khalil. The performance captivated many fans, as well, who then commented to me that he has a good voice. The performed more songs after, dueting and solo-ing their way till 1pm. These are some of the videos of the first part of the performance.

P/S: Pardon the audio problem, because the apparent zooming made the audio haywire.

As for the 2nd half, Mei Sim and Vinties (a band) took over. They stormed the stage with a series of oldies that I know how to sing. No, I'm not old; I'm just knowledgable. They performed songs such as 最爱你的人是我 (The One who Love you Most is Me) and 把我的悲伤留给自己 (Leave my own Sorrow to Myself). Mei Sim's voices awed many on the scene; while Vinties attracted their fair share of crowd as well. Many commented that their voices are good, and probably should sing more pop songs. At least we know they'll come back for more! Here are some videos!

With that, marks the end of the performances. For more videos, similarly, visit FrequenC Youtube !

Before it ended, we gave a surprise to our friend who would be celebrating her birthday the next day! It was a great surprise for her, and she teared after the event.
